SDB's safety philosophy is to strive for an injury-free environment by having employees enroll in safety training programs and commit to jobsite compliance and awareness.


SDB has a Safety Department that is responsible for safety compliance and training. The objective is to advise management and supervisory personnel on safe work practices, supply information required to comply with the company's safety program and OSHA regulations, and to assure that records are maintained and submitted as required.

Employees with occupational exposure are trained in OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses. The Safety Department is run by the Safety Director and employs field supervisors. At each jobsite, a Project Supervisor trained in OSHA 30 monitors for job safety. It is their role to oversee daily on-site working practices, maintain quality & safety compliance, and coach employees to avoid accidents or hazards. Safety officials monitor construction sites to observe working conditions and assure safety practices are being used. Currently, SDB maintains an exceptional Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of .71.
